How We Met

Markus and Danielle met at LSU's Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service project in 2012 as they were painting a house in the community. Markus initiated a conversation with Danielle, who he had seen at the gym. What Danielle didn't know was Markus had his eye on her. Markus claims he told his friend Karon, Danielle was going to be his. In the conversation, Markus asked to join Danielle for a Zumba class. Danielle would like to note, until this day, Markus has not joined her for a Zumba class. But what Markus did do was find the key to Danielle's heart, which is through her stomach. Markus cooked white beans and smothered pork chops, which must have been seasoned with love because they have bee inseparable ever since.

The Engagement

Markus proposed on March 1st, 2019, in Fulton Alley in the presence of family and friends. We previously agreed to celebrate the completion of my bar exam testing that afternoon by attending the Zulu Ball. Markus asked to leave early to meet friends, and to my surprise, there was everyone, a jazz band, and a videographer! Of course, I said yes! After, we danced the night away at the ball and enjoyed the rest of my favorite holiday, Mardi Gras!
